HOW TO GET TESTED?

Visit your GP

Simply visit your general practitioner to have your cholesterol tested. You must fast for 12 hours before having a detailed blood cholesterol test (only water is allowed), so your general practitioner can measure all different fat components in the blood and give you an accurate risk assessment. By doing this, he/she will also evaluate other risks such as blood pressure etc.

The Flora pro-activ Van

If you would like a quick and easy assessment of your cholesterol levels, you can also visit our Flora pro-activ Van. The Van roams up and down the East Coast, offering cholesterol screening at a nominal price of $10.

The cholesterol screening test involves a simple finger prick and takes just 5 minutes. It measures Total Cholesterol, and is a useful indicator of heart health.

All Flora pro-activ Van tests do not require fasting prior to testing, as the LDL component (which requires fasting prior to testing) is not measured. If the results you receive at the Van indicate that you have a total cholesterol level higher than the recommended level, you are advised to visit your GP for a more detailed assessment.

See below for when and where you can find the Flora pro-activ Van.
